Busy Box

There's nothing like getting a belated birthday gift in the mail, is there? Nana sent Ellie an art box for her birthday and she has LOVED it. She and Dan have actually done several projects together over the past months. Ellie enjoyed doing something fun with her Dad and Dan loved having all the art projects and their supplies in cute little envelopes. Win win!

Peanut butter playdough was unsuccessful in our house. Dang! I couldn't get it to have the dough consistency. But the girls sure did enjoy eating it!

Magnets!

So we saw these magnets in Family Fun and thought they would be a colorful addition to our fridge. We've had the same magnets Dan and I made out of beer bottle lids for the past 3 or 4 years now and it's time to move on, right? So we just flipped the lids, filled them with pretties, and some glue. We were supposed to use different glue stuff (Deco Art Triple Thick), and we should have. But not one single local store had it. So we just filled them up with elmers clear glue. Not the best, but it worked for now!

Make it shake it!

We made shakers the other day and I must say, it was quite an event. It's practically a 3 ring circus getting any crafting done with Julia around. She steals the paintbrush, tries to eat the glue, and throws our paper on the floor. But who cares! It's still fun, right? I'm not sure if any of you have used Modge Podge, but if you haven't, you must stop reading this post right now and go to the craft store for some. Seriously people! It makes gluing paper to anything look cool. I mean, it will glue practically anything to anything. I kid you not. I actually glued paper to styrofoam a while back and it worked great - and if you aren't impressed by this, then clearly you have never tried gluing anything to styrofoam. Moving right along here. We modge-podged our selected papers to our cans and waited for them to dry. Once they were dry, we filled them with glass beads and decided that was entirely too loud. So we used lima beans and a few glass beads and it was perfect. Ellie and I turned on some music and jammed with our new shakers. Who wants to try? Go ahead it's fun! (And when you're done, just throw them in the recycling!)
